The Darling River Run

An unforgettable road trip along the mighty Darling River in outback NSW.

If you’re travelling the Darling River Run, consider taking a side trip to discover one of Outback NSW’s true hidden gems - the Goodooga Artesian Springs & Campground.

Fed by the Great Artesian Basin, these naturally heated mineral waters offer the perfect place to soak, unwind, and reset after a day on the road. The pools are clean, inviting, and open 24 hours, so whether it’s an early morning dip or a relaxing soak under a sky full of stars, it’s an experience worth the trip.

Right alongside the springs, the campground provides a peaceful place to pull up for the night. There’s plenty of space for caravans and campers, with basic facilities that make it easy to stay a little longer and enjoy the quiet.

If you’re heading through #Brewarrina or along the upper reaches of the Darling, it’s well worth adding to your itinerary.

Fill this space… It doesn’t take much out here.

🎣 An empty chair by the water, a couple of lines in, and time slowing right down. This is the kind of moment you’ll find #outontherun at Copi Hollow Caravan Park, where the days are easy and the fishing stories come naturally.

Set along the banks of Menindee Lakes, it’s the perfect spot to pull up, cast a line, and settle into that outback rhythm. No rush, no noise - just you, the lakes, and a good excuse to stay a while.

On the Darling River Run, this is what it’s all about… finding your own space, and filling it your way.

Step into one of the oldest living cultures on earth at the Brewarrina Aboriginal Cultural Museum.

The museum offers visitors the opportunity to experience First Nation culture, country and history firsthand from local people, in the very spot where local tribes have gathered for tens of thousands of years.

Through the ancient tradition of storytelling, the Ngemba, Ualarai, Weilwan and Baranbinja people walk in the footsteps of their ancestors, bringing to life stories once thought long forgotten.

Make time to visit when you’re in Brewarrina for an experience that will stay with you long after you leave.

The museum is open Monday to Saturday, offering guided tours of the centre and the National-Heritage listed fish traps.

Call or text Brad at the Museum on 0457 869 088 to book a tour or visit their Facebook page for more information and updates.

🌅 The Cuttaburra National Park is open to visitors and looking its best.

Just 1.5 hours northwest of #Bourke, it’s a great option for a short side trip on the Darling River Run. Camp under the stars and reconnect with nature at Comeroo Campground, now open with new facilities including picnic shelters, gas BBQs, toilets and outdoor artesian showers.

Set along the banks of #Cuttaburra Creek, the campground has space for tents, camper trailers and caravans, with sites close to fireplaces for an easy, relaxed stay.

BOOK ONLINE at the NSW National Parks & Wildlife Services website, then choose your own spot on arrival.

With the creek flowing, the landscape green and wildlife thriving, it’s a great time to visit. Explore around 40km of scenic tracks or pull up at Maranoa Waterhole for a quiet afternoon by the water.

Before you go - bring your own firewood, and remember pets aren’t permitted.

🦅 This striking sculpture of a nesting eagle is just one of the public art pieces you'll find throughout #Brewarrina reflecting the stories, spirit, and strength of the region.

You'll locate this and other sculptures over the bridge as you come into the north of town on the Kamilaroi Hwy. Make sure to stop and take a look when you're in Brewarrina on the #DarlingRiverRun.
