We are soooo close to making waves!
Our beloved Jandra Paddleboat is our top pick for must-see attraction when you visit Bourke! Since September 2024, the Bourke Shire Council has been giving her some well-deserved love, cuddles, and a fresh facelift. She’s looking stunning and almost ready to splash her new paddles — OMG, we’re so excited!!
We didn’t expect the recent floodwaters to set us back another 6 weeks, but hey — a slow-rising river brings beauty and benefits to our community. Six weeks? Nothing in the grand scheme of things!
Fun fact: The Jandra, seen here in an original photo from the 1900s, is a replica built in 2000 by the Mansell family of Bourke. It was purchased by Bourke Shire Council and marked the first paddleboat to operate on the Darling River in over 60 years!
Bourke’s rich river trade history is what built our town on the banks of the mighty Darling. Want to learn more? Head over to the interactive Back O’ Bourke Exhibition Centre — open 7 days, 9am-5pm!
Stay tuned — we have some exciting news about the Jandra Paddleboat dropping tomorrow! If you’re planning a trip to Bourke this weekend, you’ll definitely want to check back in — don’t miss out! 🙌🌟

Sharing the outdoor shower with a Desert Tree Frog at Trilby Station. Five of these guys would jump up out of the drain as soon as the water was turned on!
